Matthew Fertel
“These images are from my daily visits to the creeks, seasonal streams, and flooded fields that appear during the rainy season near my home in Orangevale, California. While the locations never change, the flow of the water and the light are in constant flux, influenced by the weather, the time of day, and chance. For me, these daily trips are a meditation on time and the nature of change. As Heraclitus wrote, ‘No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.’”
